Streams the call
Audio is resampled to 16 kHz PCM in the browser and streamed in 50 ms chunks to AssemblyAI Universal-Streaming, with keyterm prompting for scam words like “OTP” and “AnyDesk”.
- 02
Instant rule layer
Every partial transcript is checked for who is asking for what — a code, a PIN, remote access, gift cards, money under pressure — in under a millisecond, while the caller is still talking. Normal talk about banks or passwords stays calm.
- 03
AI second opinion
At each end of turn an LLM reads the whole call and can raise the alarm on clever scams. It can never lower the rule score, so a scammer saying “this call is safe” can't talk it down.
- 04
Speaks up
At critical risk ScamShield sounds a chime, ducks the call audio and says a short, specific warning out loud — once per danger, never on repeat — and answers your questions by voice.
ScamShield is a second pair of ears, not a guarantee: it can miss scams and it hears only what the microphone picks up. If in doubt, hang up and call back on a number you trust.
Private by design: audio is streamed to AssemblyAI for live transcription and is not recorded by ScamShield. The transcript lives only in this browser tab until you clear it or close the page. With “Deeper AI check” on, transcript text (never audio) is also sent to Google Gemini; on Google's free tier that text may be kept and reviewed by Google, so switch it off for sensitive calls. API keys never reach your browser.
